Out and About with Word and Image of Vermont

The Kellogg-Hubbard Library
Every town needs balance, and Montpelier is no exception. Just as our post office may be the worst small town post office in America, our library may be the best. I’ve never know another library of this size which provided as much support, information, and programming as the Kellogg-Hubbard does. I confess I’m biased because the library invites me by once or twice a year to talk about a book, or a current topic. And it always provides me with a good audience, which is just about the most precious thing one can get in today’s world of inattention. Another fine aspect of the Kellogg-Hubbard is that it’s inviting both inside and out. It’s a handsome building, and in pleasant weather, its lawns offer people space to sit, talk, and relax. We’re lucky to have a institution this vital in our town, and I hope we’ll be wise enough to continue to support it at least as much as we have in the past.
